Marvelous AQL have already launched one successful multimedia franchise on the Nintendo 3DS in Senran Kagura, and now they’re looking to start another. KAIO: King of Pirates, being developed in collaboration with Mega Man creator, Keiji Inafune, looks like it’s set to be Marvelous’ next big bet.

Originally announced earlier this year, KAIO: King of Pirates is intended to be a trilogy of games that depicts the Romance of the Three Kingdoms story. Aside from the game, Marvelous AQL have also shared the license for a manga adaptation that will debut in V Jump magazine next year.

Additionally, Marvelous also revealed at Jump Festa this weekend that KAIO will have an anime adaptation as well. No details regarding the anime have been revealed yet, but the 3DS game and the manga are both still slated for 2013. Marvelous AQL have also filed American and European trademarks for KAIO.

That makes two Marvelous AQL games for the Nintendo 3DS we know next to nothing about. One is KAIO and the other is Dragon Marked for Death, which Marvelous shared with Siliconera is going to have “amazing” online features.
