In an interesting turn of events Konami registered the trademark Byon Byon earlier this month, which can be used for arcade machines. You know, Konami announced an arcade game with the same name back at AOU 2008 in Japan. The two are probably related.

Byon Byon has players use a boxing glove in a cannon controller to shoot stuff on a screen. Akihabara News has a video that gives an idea about the concept, which makes it look like a creative twist on light gun games. However, don’t get your hopes up too much for a North American release. Konami still hasn’t used the Guitar Revolution trademark and they have Jubeat registered too. It is entirely possible, if not probable, that Konami is just covering their bases by registering Byon Byon everywhere. On the other hand I imagine the wacky concept of Byon Byon can be fun on the Wii if Konami bundled it with a telescopic boxing glove shell.
