Inazuma Eleven Yo-kai Academy Y

Level-5 to Prioritize Yokai Gakuen Development Over Inazuma Eleven: Great Road of Heroes

The long-awaited Inazuma Eleven: Great Road of Heroes has hit yet another roadblock. Today, Level-5 President Akihiro Hino revealed on Twitter that the company will be prioritizing the development of the Yo-kai Watch spinoff Yo-kai Academy Y over the soccer title for business reasons, meaning that the game will likely be releasing even later than what may have been expected.

Here is Hino’s full message translated below:

Pardon the sudden message, but for business purposes we have prioritized the development of Yo-kai Academy Y over Inazuma Eleven: Great Road of Heroes. Currently, discussion on the groundwork needed to make [Inazuma Eleven] a hit title is required, so that game development may be allowed to continue. We’re putting all our efforts into making it a good game. Please forgive us for the long wait.

News on the soccer title has been nonexistent since the reveal of the first details on the game back in April 2020, but Inazuma Eleven fans have been waiting for the game much longer than that. Originally titled Inazuma Eleven Ares, the game was supposed to tie in with the anime series that aired in 2018, but was progressively delayed to the point where development had to be restarted, due to issues that popped up with the game developer that development was outsourced to. It seems that for now, Inazuma Eleven will continue to sit in Level-5’s reserve team while Yo-kai Academy Y and Megaton Musashi (which are both getting shown at TGS 2020) are on the field.

Inazuma Eleven: Great Road of Heroes is currently in development.
