Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will feature both English and Japanese voice-overs, Square Enix announced this morning. The Japanese voices will be available as free downloadable content during the first two weeks after the game’s launch.

After this two-week period, the Japanese voices will be paid DLC. Why paid? Because Square Enix went to the effort of giving the Japanese voices separate lip-syncing from the English ones and they’ll need to code those animations into the non-Japanese version of the game.

Lightning Returns will be available on February 11th, 2014 for Xbox 360 and PS3. Square Enix haven’t announced how much the Japanese voice pack for the game will cost yet.
