Following a September 2026 delay that pushed back the Mall of America debut of the Bandai Namco Cross Store and The Gundam Base Minneapolis, Minnesota, a new launch date was set for both. They will now open on October 30, 2026. The official announcement on social media didn’t note if there will be special opening day events or giveaways when the two debut.
This means there was only about a one month delay between the planned launch date of both stores and their actual opening. Bandai Namco didn’t explain the cause for the pause. It only confirmed that further announcements will come in the lead up to the debut later this month.
As the names suggest, each of these stores will feature a different focus. The Bandai Namco Cross Store involves merchandise tied to anime and game series associated with Bandai Namco. It also means seeing things like Banpresto, MegaHouse, and Tamashii Nations figures. Meanwhile, The Gundam Base store will focus solely on that series and offer things like model kits, figures, and other merchandise associated with it.
We’ve seen The Gundam Base stores appear outside Japan before. In fact, another one is in the US midwest. The Fashion Outlets of Chicago mall in Rosemont, Illinois is home to one of them. That debuted at the end of 2025.
The new Bandai Namco Cross Store and The Gundam Base locations will open at the Mall of America in Minneapolis, Minnesota on October 30, 2026.
