Last year, Capcom released a Mega Man social game for iOS devices in Japan. Titled Mega Man Xover, the game melds a whole bunch of Mega Man history into a single game that plays conveyor belt-style, with Mega Man running through stages automatically. (You’re still given the ability to jump and shoot)

While the game is already out in Japan, Mega Man Xover isn’t headed to the U.S. in the near future, Capcom’s Senior Vice-President, Christian Svensson, revealed on the company’s forums this morning.

“Based upon the largely negative feedback from [Mega Man] fans, I’ve requested that we place any Americas release on hold for the time being,” Svensson shared in a forum post. “We will revisit at a later date.”

Capcom’s U.S. and Japanese divisions are currently in the process of celebrating Mega Man’s 25th anniversary. In the U.S., this celebration will continue throughout the year, with more details to be announced in the future. Meanwhile, in Japan, Mega Man Xover was part of the 25th anniversary celebration. Capcom added retro worlds and Robot Masters to the game.
