Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection to Add Online Functionality Via Day 1 Patch

Lucky players may or may not be able to get early copies of Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection, but players eager to dive into the game’s brand-new ‘Z Chaser’ versus mode might be disappointed to find out that the mode will not be available online until the day of release. Capcom revealed that a Day 1 patch will add online functionality to the mode, which has players competing against either CPUs or other players for the best time through levels.

In particular, Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection‘s World Record Chaser lets players compare their times online, as well as download replays of other people’s runs through stages. This is similar to another recent Mega Man game, Mega Man 11, where these features were also available.

The Mega Man Zero series, in particular, has always been known for speedruns, especially since it is encouraged within the game itself. At the end of each stage in the Zero series, you are ranked based on elements like time, damage taken, and enemies defeated. In the first few games, you’d only be able to earn EX Moves that allow Zero to do additional techniques by defeating bosses while having a high rank.

Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection will come to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on February 25, 2020. Check out our interview with producer Kazuhiro Tsuchiya regarding Z Chaser and other features.
