How Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes’ Cutscenes Connect To Gameplay

Hideo Kojima has talked about Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes’ cutscenes in the past, and recently, he took to Twitter once again to explain how the cutscenes for the game are being directed.

Kojima says he wanted to connect Ground Zeroes’ cutscenes to its gameplay, and for this reason, most of the cutscenes in the game are depicted using a single camera that follows the action around. While you will be able to adjust the camera manually to a limited extent, most cutscenes in the game are from a single shot from start to finish.

Kojima points to the opening video for Ground Zeroes as one example of this. You can watch the video above for reference.

In the past, Kojima has also stated that every area you see in the cutscenes for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will be accessible during gameplay. This was another reason for the single-shot direction—you’ll be able to spot clues during cutscenes that will be useful during gameplay.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will be available this March for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.
