There’s a new sort of miHoYo video going over Genshin Impact’s Dragonspine. This time, the company is explaining how the region was made. In an almost seven minute clip, people like the Dragonspine Environment Concept Artist Bu Yiding, Dragonspine Level Artist Maizi, and Open World Level Designer Xiao Ao went over design, direction, and the general ambiance of the region.

For example, things start by going over the general atmosphere of Genshin Impact’s Dragonspine.  brought up how Mondstadt has a spring theme and Liyue is inspired by fall, so now Dragonspine is the wintry area. Bu Yiding, for example, mentioned how the weather led to different use of color saturation, light, and visibility, as well as changes between indoor and outdoor areas. Maizi then explained how real-life environments influenced its design. Bu Yiding then mentioned how Europe’s Alps, like the Matterhorn, helped shape it. From there, the team goes on to talk about specific gameplay elements, like the use of interior space in its caves and the Sheer Cold mechanic

Here’s the full Genshin Impact Dragonspine behind-the-scenes video, “Snow-Covered Path.”

The Dragonspine was a part of the 1.2 update, which also added new five-star characters like Albedo and Ganyu.

Genshin Impact is available for the PlayStation 4, PC, and mobile devices. A Nintendo Switch version is on the way too.
