Mirror’s Edge Writer Rhianna Pratchett Not Working On The Reboot

As reported last year, Electronic Arts are working on a new Mirror’s Edge game, but this one won’t be penned by writer Rhianna Pratchett, who came aboard the original game’s development team partway through development to write for it.

Polygon reports that Pratchett shared the news via her Twitter account. When asked if she would be working on the new game, Pratchett stated: “It’s really lovely that people care enough to ask whether I’m involved with Mirror’s Edge 2, but I’m not & wasn’t asked.”

“Let’s face it ME1’s story didn’t review that great (for many reasons). So I consider myself a casualty of that development process. By all accounts it’s a new team on it, so go with God, I say. Create cool stuff. We always need more of that.”

Pratchett says that, due to the original Mirror’s Edge already having been partly designed before she was brought onboard, it limited creativity with its story. She also added in a reply to a fan: “The script got hacked up at the 11th hour due to a decision to remove all of Faith’s level dialogue.”

Last we heard, the Mirror’s Edge reboot will be an open-world game and will avoid adopting the approach of a first-person shooter.
