Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme VS Maxiboost ON Gets Online Early Access Next Week [Update]

Bandai Namco has announced a new set of online tests in Japan for Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme VS Maxiboost ON, the first of which will begin as soon as next week on June 20, 2020. The game is the latest in the series of fighting games featuring mobile suits from the entire series.

Currently, there are six sessions planned for the game, and they are all for the Japan. Here are the times and dates:

  • June 20, 12pm JST to June 21, 12pm JST
  • June 27, 12pm JST to June 28, 12pm JST
  • July 4, 12pm JST to July 5, 12pm JST
  • July 11, 12pm JST to July 12, 12pm JST
  • July 18, 12pm JST to July 19, 12pm JST
  • July 25, 12pm JST to July 26, 12pm JST

Essentially, the early access period will be available starting the week of June 20, 2020 up until the release of the full game. There will be 185 selectable units to use and 36 different stages to fight on. Player Matches (online rooms), Casual Matches, and Branch Battle (solo only) will be available to play. Branch Battle was not available in the previous Network Test.

For people who have preordered a digital version of Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme VS Maxiboost ON, they will be able to play each early access period for an additional 24 hours. This only applies to preordered copies via the Japanese PlayStation Store. Also, there are some caveats to look out for, such as that save data from the online early access sessions will not be transferable to the full game. The early-access sessions will not use Bandai Namco servers, but rather P2P connections, meaning that the stability of the matches depends on every player connected to it. However, as an upside, you will still be able to play online in the early-access sessions even if you don’t have PlayStation Plus.
