Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G—known as Monster Hunter Freedom Unite in the West—is available on iOS devices in Japan. The game costs 1,600 yen.

 

Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G for iOS features high-resolution graphics and Wi-Fi multiplayer. (Multiplayer via mobile data is not supported) In addition, the game’s UI has been adjusted for the iPhone and iPad.

 

Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G for iOS also features support for the MFi game controller. The game also features a variant of the “Target Camera” feature introduced in Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate—only this time, you can choose to permanently lock on to the monster as well, if you like.

Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G was originally released in 2008 for the PSP in Japan. You can view a comparison between the two versions above.

 

Meanwhile, next new Monster Hunter title being released in Japan and the West is Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate for Nintendo 3DS. Japan will get that game this Fall, while North America and Europe will get it in early 2015.
