The Monster Rancher 2 Switch enhanced port has a release date in Japan, courtesy of the impromptu Nintendo Direct Mini that appeared on August 26, 2020. People will be able to generate, train, and battle monsters again on September 17, 2020. It will cost 2,820円 (~$27).
As this is an updated port, there will be a number of alterations and new features in this version of Monster Rancher 2. For example, Koei Tecmo asked about monster and CD suggestions and confirmed over 400 types will be there. It also confirmed the PocketStation minigame will be available in this version.
Monster Rancher 2 was actually the very first announcement during the Japanese version of the Nintendo Direct Mini, so you can see its 27 second spot here in the video below.
Nintendo also shared an array of screenshots of the updated port, giving people a better idea of what they can expect should they decide to grab the RPG from the eShop.
The Monster Rancher 2 Switch version will launch on September 17, 2020 in Japan. The Japanese website hasn’t been updated yet, so it is unknown if the Android and Apple iOS versions will launch the same day. A port of the original Monster Rancher is immediately available on the Nintendo Switch, Android devices, and iOS devices in Japan.
