Remember Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe? The crossover fighting game was Mortal Kombat developer NetherRealm Studios’ last project, prior to being acquired by Warner Bros. and getting to work on the 2011 Mortal Kombat reboot. Now, after taking a break from DC’s characters, NetherRealm are returning to them again, in a fighting game titled Injustice: Gods Among Us.

While the name may not give it away, Injustice: Gods Among Us is a pure DC Universe fighting game with an original story, featuring characters like Batman, Harley Quinn, Solomon Grundy, Superman, The Flash, Wonder Woman and others. Gamespot put an announcement trailer for the game up this morning (above).

“We can’t wait to reveal Injustice: Gods Among Us because it will give our fans and gamers an epic experience as they battle like gods as their favorite DC Comics villains and heroes,” said Ed Boon, Creative Director of NetherRealm Studios.  “Our team is excited to make a fighting game that is filled with fast-paced action, incredible story-telling and iconic DC Comics characters.”

Injustice: Gods Among Us is scheduled for release in 2013 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U.
