Mutant Mudds developer Renegade Kid are working on a “new experimental 2D game” for the Nintendo 3DS, studio co-founder Jools Watsham tweeted this week.

“As part of our healing process after the [Kickstarter] failure, we’re developing a new experimental 2D game for 3DS,” Watsham said. “It has pixels and stuff. No cults.”

Meanwhile, Cult County, a first-person horror game that Renegade Kid hoped to develop for PC and consoles with the help of Kickstarter funding, will push on as well.

Cult County was originally in development for the Nintendo 3DS. Partway through development, Renegade Kid expanded the scope of the project, designing it around PC and console specs instead. Unfortunately, the game did not make its $580,000 Kickstarter goal. Despite this, Cult County will still be made.

Cult County kickstarter has ended,” Watsham said in a separate tweet. “1492 wonderful backers pledged $46,736. Thank you! We did not reach goal. Now discussing other options.”

In reply to a fan on Twitter, Watsham clarified, “Yeah, we’re still pursuing other avenues for [Culty County]. Haven’t give up. Just need something else to have fun with.”
