Namco’s fictional arcade in Game Center CX

In Japan there is a TV show with comedian Shinya Arino trying to complete Famicom games called Game Center CX. Since retro games don’t have save points, Arino struggles through them while the audience laughs at his frustration.

Namco Bandai’s take on the show is rather clever. In Game Center CX: Arino no Chousenjou for the DS you’re forced to sit through with the host and play through parodies of popular Famicom games. Cosmic Gate is like Galaga and Rally King is like Rally-X. Not all the parodies are of Namco Bandai titles, Guadia Quest pokes fun at Dragon Quest. I like the creative spin on this and I’ll be picking it up on November 15 when it comes out in Japan.
