Sega announced two new kinds of Sonic and Friends x Sanrio merchandise that involves the chibi versions of characters dressed as Sanrio mascots. Acrylic stands and button badge pins are headed to Japan. Both will appear as arcade prizes starting on May 22, 2026. As the plush keychain mascots of Sonic and Shadow in this line did appear on the Sega Toys Amazon storefront, we could see these worldwide after their Japanese debut.
Each of these two sets features six Sonic the Hedgehog characters dressed up in hats resembling the mascots. So Sonic has a Hello Kitty hat, Tails a Cinnamoroll one, Amy Rose is My Melody, Knuckles is Kuromi, Eggman is Pompompurin, and Shadow is Hangyodon. The acrylic standees aren’t tall ones, as they’re all under three inches each (7cm). the button badge pins are actually larger, as those are just over three inches tall (8cm).

We first started to see this Sonic and Friends series appear alongside the 2025 Sanrio Character Ranking popularity poll. Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, Amy Rose, and Eggman all showed up at that point. A few months later in October 2025, an official site and plush toys appeared.
The Sonic and Friends x Sanrio acrylic stand and button badge pin merchandise will appear in Japanese arcades on May 22, 2026. It’s unknown if and when we could see these items worldwide.
