This week, Netmarble revealed the first trailer for Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds, an MMORPG set in the alternate world of Ni no Kuni that will launch on iOS and Android. The game’s official website is also now open, and introduces the story and setting of this new entry in Level-5’s classic series. The game was first revealed back in November 2019.

While the main entries in the series has you playing as several different characters, Cross Worlds will allow players to choose which character class to as from the start. All five character classes are people from our world who were chosen to participate in the beta test for the virtual reality game “Soul Divers,” but slowly grew to realize that they have been sent to the alternate world of Ni no Kuni. Players will meet a mysterious lady known as Lania, who tells the player of their destiny of rebuilding a fallen kingdom in order to face off against a growing menace that threatens both our world and Ni no Kuni, as the two worlds are linked together.
From the trailer, we can see that the game will be more action-focused, similar to the second game, rather than the turn-based system in the first game.
Characters
Swordsman
The gentlemanly Swordsman specializes in swift attacks with a broadsword. With his graceful sword techniques that exude a boyish charm, he cuts down any enemies in his path.
In reality, Swordsman is a young worker who is willing to stand up to any challenge. In order to seek out new challenges and to escape his monotonous life, he decides to sign up for the Soul Divers beta.
Witch
A perfectionist magic user who fights using a spear imbued with magic, Witch can adapt and deal to any situation due to her intellect.
In Ichi no Kuni, Witch is a young woman who has been excluded from her peers due to excelling in any task easily, as if she was a witch. She decides to join the Soul Divers beta to become a true witch.
Destroyer
Destroyer is a wild warrior who makes an impact with his giant hammer. He’ll attack enemies on the battlefield unrelentingly, and is a dependable ally who can dish out tons of damage.
In Ichi no Kuni, Destroyer is a florist who helps relieve people’s stress with his beautifully-grown flowers. Despite his brawny exterior, he’s quite a gentle person.
Rogue
Rogue is a bow user who causes confusion among enemy ranks with his tricky bow attacks. Apart from attacking at a distance, he can also strengthen allies as a supporter.
In Ichi no Kuni, Rogue is a young prankster whose biggest weapons are his playful nature and deft movements. These talents of his are brought to their fullest within Soul Divers.
Engineer
Engineer is a young girl who is a specialist at using rifles and other manners of weaponry. Apart from attacking enemies on the field, she can also heal the wounds of allies.
Back in Ichi no Kuni, Engineer is a bright young girl with the intellect of a genius. Will her boundless curiosity be satiated in the world of Soul Divers?
