Nintendo DS Homebrew, Colors!, Evolves Into 3DS eShop App

This fall, a piece of software that originally gained popularity in the form of Nintendo DS homebrew will be officially released as an app for the 3DS on the Nintendo eShop.

 

The app in question is Colors! 3D. The original Colors! was created as a homebrew application for the Nintendo DS in 2007. It was a simple painting application but its wide adoption amongst the DS homebrew community led to the creation of a lot of rather nice pieces of art work, many of which are available for viewing in the online Colors! gallery. A year later, Colors! was released for iOS platforms.

 

Colors! 3D for 3DS will let you create 3D paintings. It also features a few other upgrades over the homebrew DS version, such as real-time collaborative painting for up to four users over local wireless connectivity. The Colors! gallery will be integrated into the app to make sharing and viewing art an easier process, too.

 

A price and release date haven’t been announced for Colors! 3D yet. The iTunes version costs $4.99. You can view screenshots of it below:
