Nintendo And GameStop To Host Super Smash Bros. 3DS National Tournament

Nintendo are teaming up with GameStop to host a Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS “National Open Tournament” in the US. On October 4th, 15 GameStop stores around the country (as well as the Nintendo World Store in New York) will host local tournaments for the game, leading up to a final tournament in NY on October 11th.   Each local tournament will consist of 64 players and feature three rounds of 4-player battles. Tournament slots will be selected on a first-come, first served basis, and if you like, you can choose to bring your own Nintendo 3DS or 2DS system (although, this isn’t a requirement). Character customization, Nintendo say, will play an important role in the tournament.   The top 16 players from the local tournaments will win a trip to New York, where they will participate in the finals at Nintendo World on October 11th. The finals will be broadcast over Nintendo’s Twitch  and YouTube channels, starting at 6pm EST.   The winner of the tournament will receive a trophy and a champion’s robe in commemoration of their achievement. In addition, winners of the local tournaments will win Nintendo 3DS systems and travel and lodging accommodations in New York for the final tournament.
