dsscan DSiWare downloadable versions of Brain Age will use the DSi’s internal camera. Right now no other software has been confirmed to support the internal camera. Just what will Nintendo use the camera for? One interesting trademark registered in Japan’s trademark database by Nintendo prompts the possibility of scanning in trading cards. “DSScan” was registered on August 19 not as the name of a game, but under the broad category of game equipment. Lots of things fall under this category including trading cards and board game equipment. Paper Pokemon cards are also grouped into this category. Since DSScan isn’t a game it could be a term used for branding Pokemon cards or other trading cards that can be used to unlock DS content. We’ve seen Nintendo do things like this before with the Game Boy Advance e-reader, but that hardware was sold separately. The Nintendo DSi camera is internal.
