Iwata Promises “Continuous Stream” Of 3DS Titles, New Genres Next Year

Every time Nintendo hold a financial results briefing, people ask when the kind of software that made the Nintendo DS sell millions upon millions is coming to 3DS. The Brain Age or Nintendogs type of games that can expand a system’s appeal beyond the population of people familiar with videogames. This week, they got an answer.

 

Nintendo president, Satoru Iwata, says that these types of games are coming next year. “Aiming for the next fiscal year, we are also working on new genres of software that may attract people who are not particularly interested in video games,” Iwata said at a financial briefing presentation yesterday. Several of these kinds of titles are in development.

 

Additionally, Iwata says that preparations are also being made in collaboration with third-party publishers to ensure that a continuous stream of Nintendo 3DS games will be released next year as well. These are games that haven’t been announced so far.
