As is common with NIS America games, people won’t just have one Ys IX cover option to choose from. The company announced a reverse cover contest for both the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 retail copies on Twitter. People will have until September 18, 2020 to vote for one of three options as the alternate design for the game on the official site.
Each of the three reverse cover options features a different sort of look. The first option has Adol in his standard and Monstrum look. The second one has Aprilis, a major character, as the central figure. The final option is a group shot that has Adol posed with fellow Monstrums The Raging Bull, The Hawk, The Renegade, The White Cat, and The Doll.
Here’s a better look at both the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 versions of all possible options.
As a frame of reference, here is what the primary Ys IX cover art will look like. This is the design NIS America chose and you’ll see when you pick up a retail copy.
Ys IX: Monstrum Nox will come to the PlayStation 4 outside Japan in February 2021. The Nintendo Switch and PC ports will also appear that year. It is immediately available on the PlayStation 4 in Japan.
