In a letter to the fans, producer Yokoyama explains that while they initially prepared for a launch in 2019, they decided to delay it to 2020, and for that he deeply apologizes to everyone. He goes on to say that ever since the planning stage, they’ve focused on the story as it is part of the Octopath Traveler series. He felt that in order to bring the same charm to smartphones, it was crucial to have a main story.

Currently, the development of its release version, Ver.1.0.0, is mostly complete. However, in order to properly provide the main story after service launch, the staff decided it would be best to revise the production schedule, which ended up causing a delay in service launch.

Yokoyama hopes fans can wait a little longer so they can work harder to release a more complete RPG for everyone.
