Pokemon GO issued a Global Catch Challenge back on November 19, 2017, testing whether the players could catch a total of 3 billion Pokemon within the time period. Players succeeded, unlocking Farfetch’d and Kangaskhan (previously region exclusive) in a wider amount of regions.

Niantic have now further announced that Ho-Oh will also test Trainers’ mettle in Raid Battles at Gyms globally for two weeks until December 12, 2017. Trainers will need to bring friends to work together to whittle down the health of the rainbow bird for a chance to capture it.
