At Nintendo’s E3 media briefing this morning, Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto announced Pikmin 3 for the Wii U. In Pikmin 3, one new feature is that Pikmin can find materials to build bridges. A new type of Rock Pikmin can also be used to break hard objects.

The basic controls for Pikmin 3 will use the Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuk. Meanwhile, the Wii U GamePad will display a map. You’ll be able to use the map to scroll around and place your Pikmin strategically.

You’ll also be able to control the game using just the Wii U GamePad if you so choose. Using the Wii U GamePad will allow you to control four leaders at once, but Captain Olimar won’t be one of them. Miyamoto says the reason for this is a secret.
