The PlayStation 4 sold 322,083 units in its opening weekend in Japan, Famitsu.com reports. The system has posted similar opening numbers to the Wii U, which opened at 308,570 copies in its first weekend.
PlayStation 2’s opening weekend, however, was far ahead of both consoles. The PS2, according to archived Famitsu numbers, sold 630,552 units in its first two days.
That said, the PS4’s launch sales are significantly higher than those of the PlayStation 3’s. The PS3 sold 88,443 units in its first two days in Japan.
Note that the numbers above are from Famitsu. The tracker Siliconera uses for its weekly sales column is Media-Create, which posts its weekly report every Wednesday.
