Pokemon Home Magearna Fix Gives It Away When National Dex Is Completed

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

It is now easier to take part in the Pokemon Home Magearna giveaway. The app previously seemed to require people to have a living Pokedex, which would mean you had one of every character in storage, in order to get the legendary fairy and steel type creature. However, now people can acquire an Original Color Magearna by completing the National Dex without having every Pokemon stored. [Thanks, Serebii!]

The update to fix the Pokemon Home Magearna issue was brought up at the beginning of March 2020. People were finding that they would be getting the character, but in some cases it wasn’t the Original Color Magearna and other issues could occur. Now, all that is needed is for Pokemon Home to acknowledge that you at one point did catch every National Pokedex character.

Here’s why this is important. Had there been a limitation where only people who had all characters in Pokemon Home at once could get this Magearna, then Basic plan members would never have been able to acquire it. The free version only allows you to store up to 30 creatures at a time. Meanwhile, the paid Premium subscription allows 6,000 to be stored, which would be plenty of room for the full National Pokedex.

Pokemon Home is available on the Nintendo Switch and both Android and Apple iOS devices. Both paid and free versions are available.
