We learned more about Pokemon Pokopia DLC expansion in the June 2026 Nintendo Direct. We had suspected this might happen, both due to the original ESRB “Everyone” rating mentioning “in-game purchases” and various leaks. Now we know an expansion is on the way and will arrive in 2026. This adds Bubbly Basin underwater and arrives in August, followed by two more updates in late 2026 and 2027. A free update will also add the Dive move so we can head underwater in August 2026. Prior to this reveal, we only saw seasonal events tied to Hoppip and Sableye.
The trailer that came up showing off the Pokemon Pokopia DLC expansion during the Nintendo Direct highlighted all of the new elements like new Pokemon, new items, possible habitats, and locations. This means new building materials as well.

There’s another reason we should have seen this coming. It happened with Dragon Quest Builders 2 too. That also got DLC with things like additional furniture and fishing. Three packs appeared for that game and came out gradually. It also ended up getting free updates that did things like offer epilogues of sorts to close out the story.
Pokemon Pokopia is available for the Switch 2 and will get a DLC expansion with a first Bubbly Basin add-on in August 2026.
