Nintendo shared a new Pokemon Pokopia trailer that focused on gameplay and character introductions, and our human-like Ditto avatar will be able to learn from a new professor called Professor Tangrowth and meet a Pikachu called Peakychu. The new footage seems to show more insights into what could be going on and makes it seem like the Ditto could be replicating the appearance of their former trainer. That new clip also confirmed a Ditto Rug piece of furniture will be available to anyone who buys and plays before January 31, 2027 as an early purchase bonus.
This extended trailer for Pokemon Pokopia starts with a look at the ruins of a what appears to be a Pokemon Center in a canyon, with Professor Tangrowth investigating what’s left behind. In a cave nearby, we see a Ditto emerge from a Poke Ball that appears, then look around. It sees a broken Pokedex, which turns on to show a picture of a Ditto next to a trainer. It’s then that our avatar transforms into a humanoid and leaves the cave, meeting Professor Tangrowth. There’s then an impromptu interpretation that explains the mission. The Professor recognizes this is a Ditto and explains that this spot used to be home to both humans and Pokemon, and asks if our avatar would help restore everything.
From there, we see how the restoration process works. We see the Ditto create habitats that encourage Pokemon to appear. Professor Tangrowth might assist. At one point, we see that character involved in a Trubbish reveal. After that, we see how Ditto can learn Pokemon moves from others and transform into other characters like Lapras and Dragonite to travel to different spots. Said Pokemon also might ask us to help them out with requests that alter the environment.
It’s at the end of the trailer, after the 9:30 mark, that we see the unusual Pikachu referred to Peakychu in Pokemon Pokopia. It’s pale and asleep, and seems a bit sad. It looks at flickering streetlights.
