Back in March 2021, Sega announced there would be a Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis closed beta held for everyone. But prior to that, Japan had its own closed beta in March 2021. Now, Sega confirmed the official PSO2 New Genesis global closed beta is set to begin on May 14, 2021, with people able to sign up starting April 21, 2021.
There are going to be some limitations to this beta phase. The first is that it will only be available on Windows 10 PCs. People will need to grab the client from the Microsoft Store to play. Though before that, they will have to grab the Xbox Insider Hub on their PC. Sega’s announcement said it will pick participants based on who applies first.
The company didn’t announce if this PSO2 New Genesis global closed beta will be identical to the one that appeared in Japan. However, it did note that it will be available for a brief period of time, just like the test in Japan. Things will kick off at 6pm PT/9pm ET on May 14, 2021. It will then run until 7pm PT/10pm ET on May 16, 2021. Everyone picked who plays will get a “participation reward” for the full game.
Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis will come to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC in 2021. The PSO2: New Genesis global closed beta test will run May 14-16, 2021. The next broadcast will air in Japan on April 22, 2021.
