Cat ear gaming headsets aren’t unusual anymore. I’m dating myself here, but when I was in high school and college, it was a pretty huge deal to see a headset designed to be an accessory like that. Certainly, it probably wasn’t going to be from a major manufacturer. I remember one classmate basically DIY-ed one with stuff from Michael’s to make it work. Things changed. Razer has whole Sanrio and Pokemon lines with ears, and these all feature aesthetic ears by default. The newest one is the Razer Pompompurin Kraken Kitty V2 BT, and it’s also the goofiest and most absurd in the best possible way.
To set the stage, typical Razer Kraken Kitty headsets have two cat ears, and they only started going with “puppy” style options with the Cinnamoroll and Pompompurin models in 2026. They look like a lot! They are a lot! My Pompompurin headset’s box is larger than I expected, given I’m used to my Eevee and Pikachu wired headset. That’s completely due to the ears.
Each of the Pompompurin ears appear on the left and right sides of the headband. They rest above the adjustable portions on each side. They feel like they’re made of a hollow silicone or rubberized material. You can squish them, and they will reinflate and return to their original size and position if you do. These don’t hang over the earcups, so you can still see the glowing Razer insignia on the sides. Pompompurin’s brown hat is made of the same material, though with a slight bit more support, at the top of the headband.

The execution of these is incredibly goofy, but also quite good. The ears do offer some give, so they could be tossed in a backpack and still maintain the aesthetic. They end up restored to their original size swiftly. The fact that they’re hollow mean there’s no extra weight added to the headset. Also, since they are that sort of rubbery material, it’s easy to wipe them down and clean them, just like it is the rest of the headset. While they do protrude a bit, the ears honestly aren’t that big. Each one is about five inches long, but only extends about two and a half inches past the earcup.
I mean, you still look like you have two big, yellow, floppy ears on either side of your head when you wear this Razer Kraken Kitty V2 BT model, but they do look exactly like Pompompurin’s.

I also appreciate that Razer included the same kind of subtle references with the Razer Pompompurin Kraken Kitty V2 BT headset like it did with other Sanrio ones in addition to these blatantly obvious, can’t miss them ones. On the brown cushion at the top of the headband, there are images of Pompompurin with Bagel the squirrel, Muffin the hamster, and Scone the mouse. It’s an adorable acknowledgement, especially since usually we only see Muffin also appear in major merchandise releases. Pompompurin’s face also appears on the fabric covering the speaker inside the earcups, which is common for these releases. This all coincides with the perfect color scheme for the headset.
What I also find sort of funny, or maybe ironic, is that the Razer Pompompurin Kraken Kitty V2 BT is also a really great wireless headset. It uses Bluetooth and is easy to pair. The button is very visible and there’s an auditory cue that lets you know when it happened. (You’ll hear a similar one when powering it down or entering the normal and low-latency gaming modes.) It works with PCs, handheld devices, and Nintendo and Sony consoles when I tested it out. The first time I used it, I got about 25 hours of use without charging, but halfway through my second charge I realized I could turn the RGB off and I still haven’t had to charge it again as of time of writing. The built-in mic works well, and the 40mm drivers made everything sound good whether I was just listening or actually playing with others and holding conversations.

The Razer Pompompurin Kraken Kitty V2 BT headset is completely in character with the Sanrio mascot, super goofy, and also good for gaming. The design absolutely calls back to multiple elements of the character. It’s sturdy, without any added weight. It also works as well as any other Razer Kraken Kitty headset for gaming purposes or enjoying other media.
The Razer Pompompurin Kraken Kitty V2 BT is available in the US now through Target.
