There have been a fair number if success stories on the Nintendo 3DS in North America over last year or so, and another one was reported yesterday by Brian Provinciano, the developer of Retro City Rampage.

Over Twitter, Provinciano stated, “Despite launching a year later/only in North America initially, Retro City Rampage’s first month on 3DS exceeded the XBLA ver’s worldwide.”

By “exceeded,” Provinciano was referring specifically to the fact the 3DS version’s first month outdid the Xbox 360 version’s worldwide sales as well as revenue in a single month, he clarified.

“But the 3DS version will outsell XBLA completely in a bit,” he added.

Retro City Rampage was released for the Nintendo 3DS via the Nintendo eShop on February 6th, 2014. The 3DS version of the game featured improvements such as an updated map, touch screen weapon selection and more.
