Last week, we reported that Japanese developer-cum-publisher Marvelous Entertainment had sold their 50% stake in European publishing house Rising Star Games to Intergrow, a company dealing in game development on consoles, PC and mobile phones in Japan and Europe.

In addition to the above, Marvelous also switched their overseas game publishing business to a licensing model whereby Western publishers would have to bid to acquire publishing rights to their games.

MCVUK, however, are now reporting that Rising Star have resecured their rights to publish Marvelous games in Europe. “I am delighted to have secured further additional backing from an important Japanese company, whilst continuing our content relationship with Marvelous Entertainment,” Rising Star managing director Martin Defries said to the site.

While Rising Star Games are officially in the clear and will be unaffected by the new licensing model, other publishers in North America will still be required to compete for the rights to MMV’s catalogue going forward.

A big thanks to Rising Star’s Yen Hau for pointing us to the story!
