River City Ransom SP Announced For Nintendo 3DS

Arc System Works revealed in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine that they’re working on a new title called River City Ransom SP, as part one of the series’ 30th anniversary next year. [Thanks, Hachima.]

River City Ransom SP is a revamped version of the original game, and will feature new events, abilities, combos, and areas.

It is being considered a “renewal” rather than a remake, so it’ll retain much of its original looks. In addition to the new moves, the game will have a new system that will change the way the game is played.

River City Ransom SP will release in Japan on April 28, 2016 for Nintendo 3DS. The game’s development is currently 65% complete.
