UPDATE: The news has been confirmed via a scan of an ad for the game (above).

This week’s Famitsu magazine reveals Shin Megami Tensei IV in development for the Nintendo 3DS, according to Japanese retail blog, Sinobi, who reported the news via Twitter this evening.

The last title Atlus developed under the “Shin Megami Tensei” moniker—ie; not a spin-off or associated series like Persona or Devil Survivor—was Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey (pictured), a first-person dungeon crawler, for the Nintendo DS.

We don’t know yet what kind of game Shin Megami Tensei IV will be, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more news, which should be coming soon enough—Sinobi says that the official site for Shin Megami Tensei IV will go live tomorrow at this URL.
