It’s a big day for Sack People. Sony and Sumo Digital released the much-promised update that adds all sorts of Sackboy: A Big Adventure online advantages. Essentially, everyone gets a chance to play well together, as online multiplayer is available in all versions. There’s even cross-play compatibility.
Previously, the game was limited to local multiplayer. Once both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 owners update to the latest version, they can play online with people on the same or different platforms. There are even ten Teamwork multiplayer levels, with two in each world. You also save all Dreamer Orbs earned in multiplayer sessions, even if you aren’t the host.
The other PS4-to-PS5 update was added with online multiplayer. If you have the PS4 version of the game and get a PS5, you can start a save transfer in the in-game Extras menu. (You can’t just upload a save to, say, the PlayStation Plus cloud and have it immediately work.)
To celebrate the feature’s launch, Sony shared a new Sackboy: A Big Adventure trailer showing a group of four people playing together.
Sackboy: A Big Adventure is available for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. It’s one of the more family-friendly launch titles for the PlayStation 5.
