Sackboy: A Big Adventure Multiplayer Will Be Local-only at Launch

An expected element in the new LittleBigPlanet spin-off wonā€™t be ready at launch. While there will definitely be Sackboy: A Big Adventure multiplayer, it will only be for people in the same room as you. Sumo Digital Design Director Ned Waterhouse explained on the PlayStation Blog that online multiplayer wonā€™t be an option until a 2020 patch is released. But, when it does come, it will allow cross-platform play.

Itā€™s actually part of a two-fold effort to add additional features. When Sackboy: A Big Adventure comes to the PS4 and PS5 in November 2020, people can go through the game alone or with up to four people in the same room as them. After the patch, which only has a 2020 release window, online will also appear.

This also means people have to wait for something that makes playing on both systems easier. When Sackboy: A Big Adventure launches, it wonā€™t support game save transfers. So if someone is playing the PS4 version of the game at launch, then gets a PS5, they wonā€™t be able to carry over that save file and pick up where they left off on the new system until this patch drops.

Sackboy: A Big Adventure, a platformer which can be played alone or cooperatively with others, will launch on November 12, 2020 on the PlayStation 4. It will also be a PlayStation 5 launch game worldwide. It includes costumes inspired by Death Stranding and Ghost of Tsushima.
