Nintendo kicked off November 2025 with a Metroid Prime 4: Beyond trailer, and it ended this week with an even longer one that spends almost seven minutes showing off Switch 2 gameplay and an overview of this entry’s features. It sets up the story, shows the antagonist, highlights locations, and lets us see her attacking and traveling around a new world ahead of the game’s Switch and Switch 2 debut next month.

It starts with Samus acting on behalf of the Galactic Federation. Sylux, who appeared in Metroid Prime Hunters, attacked the UTO Research Center. As a result, she ends up on the planet Viewros. The place is a complete mystery, and she’ll need to explore it and search for answers and a way out. Some of the spots we’ll see are the Flare Pool facility, Fury Green jungle, Ice Belt lab, and Volt Forge factory. As the Lamon civilization that built in these places is extinct, all that appear to remain are monsters and robots.

The Metroid Prime 4 gameplay trailer also showed off some abilities we’ll see Samus use. As usual, she can use her Power Beam and Missiles to attack. If some areas need some planning or special exploration methods, she can dash, jump, or transform into her Morph Ball form. Her Scan Visor can check items around her for insights and information for her Logbook. New to this installment are Psychic Abilities like a Control Beam or Psychic Glove.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will come to the Switch and Switch 2 on December 4, 2025.
