Sega Turning On Virtual On Development?

image Aside from a Japan only Sega Ages update of Cyber Troopers: Virtual On Sega’s robot battling series vanished into the ether. Out of the few Virtual On games I spent the most time with Cyber Troopers Virtual-On Oratorio Tangram on the Dreamcast always envious of Sega’s bulky Virtual On Dreamcast controller. The massive device replicated how the game felt in the arcade and the Wii remote/nunchuck combo could do something similar.

So, my eyes lit up when I discovered Sega re-registered a trademark for Cyber Troopers Virtual-On Oratorio Tangram in the USPTO. Before you (or I) get too excited Sega likes to tease with their Dreamcast trademarks. Earlier this year they registered Cosmic Smash which hasn’t been used for anything. They also re-registered Jet Grind Radio and Sonic Shuffle. Sure, Samba de Amigo found its way to the Wii, but not every Sega Dreamcast game deserves or is going to get a port. Some of these have to be protective trademarks, but it’s still strange to see Sega protecting so many games especially commercially unsuccessful ones. Perhaps, Sega is working on a Sega Dreamcast collection? We know Sega loves re-releasing their history on current consoles.
