Earlier in the year, a studio named Precursor Games, formed by ex-Silicon Knights veterans, launched a Kickstarter campaign for a brand new horror game—Shadow of the Eternals. The studio pitched the game as a spiritual successor to Eternal Darkness, a Gamecube game that Silicon Knights once developed in collaboration with Nintendo.
Precursor were initially asking for $1.5 million in contributions, and even provided a breakdown of where the money would go. Unfortunately, when the studio’s Kickstarter campaign failed to gain traction, they took it down, stating that they would return with a new campaign at a later date.
That date is today. Shadow of the Eternals is back up on Kickstarter, this time with a funding goal of $750,000. It also appears to no longer be an episodic game, as Precursor state on the new Kickstarter page that Shadow of the Eternals will provide an 8-12 hour playthrough. Additionally, in addition to a PC and Wii U release, Precursor have added a PS4 release as a stretch goal as well.
Finally, David Hayter, who many know as the voice of Metal Gear Solid’s Snake, will be voicing the main character in Shadow of the Eternals—a detective named Paul Becker.
“Playing the role of Paul Becker will be a blast as he is both complex and conflicted,” said David Hayter. “I intend to provide gamers with a provocative and memorable experience on the roller coaster ride that is Shadow of the Eternals.”
