Shiny Toxtricity Event Coming to GameStop for Pokemon Sword and Shield

GameStop signage for an upcoming Pokemon distribution event has appeared online. Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield players who visit a GameStop or EB Games in the US or Canada will be able to download a Shiny Toxtricity as part of the promotion. The event is set to begin on February 19, 2021, which is the same day the new Shining Fates set of booster packs of the Pokemon Trading Card Game releases in those regions. [Thanks, Serebii!]

The Shiny Toxicity promotion will make use of the Pokemon Pass app, which can be downloaded on mobile devices. The app uses location services to determine that the user is at one of the designated locations for the event. The next step after arriving at the GameStop is to use the device’s camera to scan a QR code. At that point, a Shiny Toxtricity that can be used in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon shield should be unlocked.

Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield, as well as both of its expansion packs, are available for the Nintendo Switch worldwide. The Crown Tundra and Isle of Armor expansions can be acquired together as part of the game’s Expansion Pass. Additionally, physical Copies of Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield that include the extra content on the cartridge released on November 9, 2020.
