Should You Pull For Kafka in Honkai: Star Rail

Kafka has been out for a little bit now, but you may still be wondering if she’s worth pulling for. Perhaps you even pulled her already and are having a bit of buyer’s remorse. If you’re still on the fence on whether you should pull for Kafka or not, here are some pros and cons of having her that might help you make your decision.

Speaking personally, Kafka is not a must-pull if we look at the grand picture. She’s really fun to use and she can rack up some serious damage. But your account is not going to suffer just because you didn’t get her. In general, characters who can only ever fit a DPS or sub-DPS niche are not as high-priority compared to characters like Luocha. You can replace a good DPS, but you can’t replace a good support. That’s my philosophy when it comes to Honkai: Star Rail.

So if you’re not exactly a fan of Kafka’s character and you’re not hurting for a DPS right now, you can skip. If you’re still not sure, then keep on reading.

First off, if you like her character or design, then you should pull on her. If you’re going to be playing a gacha game, you might as well try and get characters you like or it’s not going to be very fun.

While Kafka is not fulfilling the role of a DPS, she can greatly enhance how much damage your party does. If you’ve ever chosen Nihility Path in Simulated Universe, then you should know how much damage it can steadily rack up. Not only is she a strong character who has the potential of surpassing even your hardest hitters, she is fairly easy to build too. You only need to stack her with ATK and SPD.

In summary, you should pull for Kafka if you like her and if Nihility’s delayed DoT damage is satisfying to you. At this point in time, her numbers can rival even that of some of the hardest hitting DPS characters depending on your build. So if you want a really strong character who needs personal investment, she’s a nice character to have on your team.

Here’s Why You Shouldn’t Pull For Kafka in Honkai: Star Rail:

Obviously, if you’re not a fan of Kafka as a character, then you should not pull for her. Unless the meta is literally the only thing you care about in the game, it can be difficult to raise and use a character you can’t stand. Kafka’s good but she’s not so good that you have to suffer through having her if you don’t like her.

Another reason why you might not want to pull for Kafka is because we know the next two upcoming 5-star characters. Fu Xuan will be a Quantum Preservation and Imbibitor Lunae will be an Imaginary Destruction. If you want one of those two more, then you should skip Kafka for now and wait for a re-run.

Since her damage comes from slowly building up DoTs on enemies, she can seem underwhelming if you don’t run her with the right characters. If you really don’t want to bother with DoT characters, then Kafka might not be the option for you. She can run as a DPS on her own, but when you compare her raw damage output to other characters like Jing Yuan or Seele, it’s just alright. While you don’t need to invest too much in Kafka herself, it can be a hassle to build characters like Sampo or Serval just to run Kafka if you weren’t planning on raising them.

To summarize this, you shouldn’t pull for Kafka if you have other characters you want coming up. You also shouldn’t pull for her if Nihility’s slow damage is not for you, or you don’t want to build DoT-oriented characters specifically to run with Kafka.

Honkai: Star Rail is readily available on mobile devices and Windows PC. PS4 and PS5 versions are in development. You can only pull for Kafka when the Nessun Dorma Event Warp is up.
