Should You Roll on the Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis Sephiroth Banner

Sephiroth arrived in Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis, and with it his first banner. While he shares it with Lucia Lin, it provides the opportunity to obtain a unique piece of five-star gear for the legendary SOLDIER and get a special on-banner weapon. This guide explains why you should or shouldn’t roll on the FFVII Ever Crisis Sephiroth banner.

The answer to this isn’t nearly as straight forward as it was for the Beach Festival Fun banner that featured Tifa and Red XIII. The long and short of it is, pull on it if you want to. Sephiroth’s weapons aren’t exactly stand-out in terms of what is already available, as Tifa does what Sephiroth can at a much better capacity. Sephiroth is great as a character for those that don’t have decent weapons on Tifa or for those that are just starting out. I think this is especially true for those who are new to the game, since he comes with a free five-star weapon that decreases the MDEF of a single target.

That said, if you didn’t blow all of your Blue Crystals (or Red Crystals if you’ve purchased any) and you lack a decent Magic focused damage dealer, it could be worth rolling on the Sephiroth banner. This is because a majority of his weapons are focused on dealing Magic Damage. Several of his weapons deal Lightning or Fire damage, which makes him adept for certain Weapon Enhancement quests or clearly Weekly fights to obtain valuable Enhancement materials.

But if you’re looking to try and shape Sephiroth into a more support-focused character, you’ll be disappointed. While he can debuff, the healing ability attached to his weapon is only self-targeting and provides him with a shield. Sephiroth is a character that can go the road alone, or he wouldn’t have garnered the title of the “Legendary SOLDIER,” but as far as characters go, he’s not as beneficial to a party as any one else at this time. Even his five-star gear isn’t all that impressive.

Additionally, this entire banner seems extremely focused around the limited Ifrit Co-op quest, as both Sephiroth and Lucia’s weapons are focused around either dealing Ice damage or lowering an enemy’s defense to Ice damage-based attacks. Because these banners are so focused on one specific type of utility, it makes it an extremely hard sell.

So my suggestion is that you skip this banner and wait for something with better weapons for Sephiroth. And if you have premium currency, I suggest pulling Sephiroth’s five-star banner since it will help you build his general load-out.

Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis is available for Android and iOS devices. It will appear on PC through the Steam storefront sometime in the future.
