Sony have created a new department called ā€œThird Party Productionā€ for their PlayStation business. This group, which is part of PlayStationā€™s Third Party Relations team will work closely with publishers to bring their games to Sony platforms.

Hereā€™s what to expect, says Gio Corsi, Director of Third Party Production for Sony Computer Entertainment America:

This means youā€™ll see even more great games on PlayStation platforms, including new IPā€™s, ports, and localized products. In addition, our partners who are currently in production will have us as a resource to strengthen their development process, ensuring quality and consistency on all Third Party projects.

The Third Party Production groupsā€™ first project is a port of Borderlands 2 for Vita. Sony announced recently that they were publishing the game themselves.
