Madden NFL 11 was the top-selling game for the month of August in the U.S., according to Electronic Arts. But guess what else didn’t do so bad? That’s right, StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty.

When StarCraft II released on July 27th, it was a simultaneous release across North America, Europe, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.

Within its first 48 hours on the market, the game rapidly sold through 1.5 million units. Within the first 30 days, that number increased to 3 million, making it the fastest-selling realtime strategy game ever.
