Stray Children is a new bittersweet fairytale RPG adventure being developed by Onion Games. The game was revealed during the Japanese broadcast of the September 2023 Nintendo Direct. In this new surreal title, the protagonist of the game is a kid that gets absorbed by a console and ends up in a land inhabited only by children.

In the land of the game, adults will sometimes try and eat children. The game will feature a turn-based combat system with a great emphasis on talking to enemies and finding ways to avoid a disastrous fate. During combat, the protagonist will have to move around the field to avoid damage during combat, in a similar fashion to Undertale.

Onion Games is a studio founded by veteran developers and members of the defunct Love-de-Lic studio. The developers are well known for having worked on cult-classics titles like Chulip, Little King’s Story, Rule of Rose, and Moon: Remix RPG Adventure.

Moon originally released for the PlayStation in 1997 exclusively in Japan, and made its way to modern systems in 2020. Moon is well known for having been one of the titled that inspired Undertale.

Stray Children is currently under development for the Nintendo Switch. The North American release date for the game is TBD, and the Japanese release date for the game is Winter 2023.
