Street Fighter IV (iPhone) On Sale, Proceeds Go Toward Earthquake Relief

Japanese game publishers are all doing their own part to help donate to Japan’s earthquake relief fund. For their part, Capcom are donating 100 million yen to this cause.

Additionally, they’re also raising funds by putting Street Fighter IV on sale on the iTunes store, with all sales going toward earthquake relief activities. Street Fighter IV on the iPhone will be 0.99 USD (115 yen in Japan) for one week starting today, March 15th, 2011 (Tuesday).

Finally, instead of shutting down their online multiplayer services like Square Enix did with Final Fantasy XI and XIV, Capcom are shortening working hours or suspending activities at arcades and other business sites served by the Tohoku Electric Power and Tokyo Electric Power companies.

In fact, instead of temporarily being taken offline like the multiplayer Final Fantasy games, Monster Hunter Frontier Online on the PC and Xbox 360 is being made free-to-play as a compensation to those in the earthquake-stricken areas. Square Enix are doing something similar by not billing their FFXI players for the period of April.
