Super Smash Bros. for Wii U can now be pre-loaded onto Wii U devices, Nintendo of America announced this morning. Starting today, Wii U users can pre-purchase the game via the Nintendo eShop or a code from a retailer, and install it onto the system.
Nintendo say that by pre-purchasing the game, “much of the data” will be pre-loaded onto your Wii U in time for Super Smash Bros.’s November 21st launch. If your Wii U is turned on and in Standby mode on that date, the remaining data will automatically be downloaded and the full game will be unlocked for playing.
You can also pre-purchase the game via Nintendo’s website, using your Nintendo Network ID. Within 72 hours of the game’s release date, people who have pre-ordered the digital version of the game this way will receive a redemption code that will allow them to pre-load the game.
Nintendo president Satoru Iwata said earlier that Smash would be the first Wii U game to support pre-loading, and that the feature will be brought to Nintendo 3DS sometime in 2015 as well.
