D3 Publisher is working on a strategy RPG with a cosplay gimmick. Being well dressed means being well prepared for battle in Tactics Layer. The outfits you choose affect your characters skills. Instead of filling stores with strategy RPG staples like plate mail and wizard robes, Tactics Layer has maid costumes and bunny ears to equip. We’ll have a better idea which item boosts “health” and “sexy” (no kidding that’s a real stat!) when Tactics Layer comes out in Japan on April 30. Originally, this game was slated for a winter release. The extra time may have been used to add Nintendo Wi-Fi features since the box art sports a Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection logo and Tactics Layer supports one or two players.
Ninja Studio, best known for the Izuna: Legend of the Unemployed Ninja series, is acting as the developer. Believe it or not this isn’t their first strategy RPG or their first strategy RPG with a dress up element. Tactical Guild published by Success came out last year. Perhaps, Atlus will pick up Tactical Guild and if it sells well they can take a stab at negotiating with D3 Publisher for the rights to Tactics Layer.
